FULL SANDING
The Full Sanding Process begins with the removal of all
finishes (polyurethane or other sealants) from the wood
floor and levels any unlevel areas from wear and warping. This
is done with a heavy drum sander with a variety of grit
sandpapers.
After the sanding, the scratches, small holes, damaged areas
and blemishes on the floor are treated to remove their obvious
appearance on the wood floors. This is done with floor fillers,
hand sanding, acids, and treatments.
Following this detail work the floor is screen-sanded to smooth
out and finish the sanding of the floor boards.
The floor is then vaccuumed to remove any particles left on the
floor that may become suspended in the new finish to be
applied. This is an essential and important part of preparing the
floor for the last step in refinishing floors.
Finally, when the floors show no signs of old
finishes, warping, or wear we are ready to apply new coats of
polyurethane finish to the floor. The coats are applied with no
less than four hours of drying time between them. After the last
coat of finish is dried and has no "tacky" areas, they can begin to
be enjoyed again!
